CITY CYCLING 2026: Campaign Launch in Jena
21 Days for more cycling, climate protection and sustainable mobility
Jena, August 2026: STADTRADELN returns to Jena on August 28, 2026. Following last year’s record-breaking results, everyone in Jena is invited to make as many of their daily trips as possible by bike and collect kilometers for their teams and the city.
Record results in 2025
Last year, nearly 3,700 people in 163 teams participated in STADTRADELN in Jena. Together, they covered more than 720,000 kilometers. This was almost 20,000 kilometers more than in 2024 and more than ever before. In total, approximately 118 metric tons of CO₂ were avoided. Jena also achieved a strong second place in a Thuringia-wide comparison.
The goal is to build on this success in 2026. For 21 days, teams from companies, schools, clubs, universities, public administration, families and other groups will work together to collect cycling kilometers. Every journey by bike counts, whether commuting to work or school, going shopping or cycling in your free time.
Kick-off tour
To kick off the event, the City of Jena invites everyone to join a group ride along the Napoleon Cycle Route to Apolda on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The 17-kilometer route starts at 12 p.m. at the Jena Papiermühle and leads via Krippendorf and along the Schötener Promenade to the Eiermann Building in Apolda. A cultural program awaits participants at the destination. The return trip to Jena is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Please register in advance at stadtradeln[at]jena.de.
