asphericon ACADEMY returns to the Laser World of Photonics

Jena, April 2023: asphericon is excited to announce the return of the asphericon ACADEMY after a four-year hiatus. The event will take place alongside the Laser World of Photonics exhibition in Munich. This year’s ACADEMY will focus on aspheres and freeform optics, with Dr. Ulrike Fuchs, asphericon’s VP Strategy & Innovation, heading three practical workshops on optic design, manufacturing, and measuring techniques. Each workshop is designed to complement the others, but attendees can also choose to book them individually. Ticket sales begin on May 2nd and will include a day pass for the Laser World of Photonics. For the first time, reduced prices will be available for postgraduate and undergraduate students.

Since its launch in 2019, the asphericon ACADEMY has become a popular training platform for aspheres and freeform optics, hosting numerous sessions for both the public and specific clients. The Laser World of Photonics in Munich provides an ideal venue for these insightful workshops. Ulrike Fuchs commented: “Alongside our trade show booth, where asphericon s.r.o. from the Czech Republic will debut, we also aim to connect directly with existing and potential clients through our ACADEMY. The Laser World’s diverse national and international audience makes it a perfect platform for us.”

During the first two days of the trade show, Dr. Fuchs will lead three 120-minute workshops tailored to current industry needs, delving into optic design, production, and measuring techniques. Knowledge sharing among participants will be encouraged. “I look forward to talking to participants about topics that, both personally and professionally, I find fascinating,” she said, adding: “Apart from the aspects explained by asphericon representatives, I fondly recall the lively discussions at previous ACADEMY events.”

This year, the ACADEMY is also targeting interested students, offering them discounted prices. Ulrike Fuchs explained: “Our focus on the future extends beyond our digitized manufacturing world. The asphericon ACADEMY is designed for tomorrow’s customers and employees. We’re inviting students to join our workshops, expand their knowledge, and contribute their perspectives.”

What can you look forward to from the asphericon ACADEMY?

Participants in the workshops can expect a comprehensive overview of the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in the industry. Dr Fuchs, the workshop speaker, will help attendees gain a deeper understanding of designing advanced optical elements that are both feasible and functional. Along with valuable hands-on advice, she’ll offer inspiration for innovative solutions and address real-world challenges faced by the participants. The workshop fee includes informative training materials to take home, as well as day passes for the Laser World of Photonics 2023 exhibition.
