TÜV Thüringen endorses outstanding quality in aspherical systems production

Jena, April 2023: Yet again, asphericon has proven its ongoing commitment to excellence by successfully implementing the ISO 9001 quality management standard for the sixth time in a row. After a thorough audit conducted in March 2023, TÜV Thüringen has endorsed the exceptional quality of the Jena-based technology pioneer in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of aspherical optical systems.

“Once again, we’ve leveraged the recertification process to enhance asphericon for our clients, allowing us to incorporate their enquiries and requests more swiftly and, most importantly, with greater transparency in our overall system,” declared CEO Alexander Zschäbitz. For instance, asphericon’s fully revamped CRM/ERP system significantly expedites order processing and establishes real-time connections among all relevant departments. “Building on this, asphericon is now focusing on integrating automated production planning, which will eliminate the need for manual coordination and enable seamless collaboration across all production areas,” Zschäbitz added. He emphasized that ISO certification isn’t just a mandatory exercise for the company, adding that it’s crucial that these processes and methods are genuinely applied in practice, not just documented on paper.

“The process-driven approach of ISO 9001:2015 serves as a crucial catalyst for efficiency and productivity within our company. Achieving successful recertification is both an affirmation and a challenge for us,” explained Alexander Zschäbitz. He continued: “From our early days, we’ve prioritized well-structured, organized processes. Constantly developing our control software into a comprehensive, fully digital process tool enables us to manage the increasingly intricate vertical scope of manufacturing across all stages, including internationally. We always ensure that our ongoing advancements and production digitization align with established standards.”

ISO 9001 is a highly regarded quality management standard both in Germany and abroad. To be awarded ISO 9001 certification, a company must undergo several internal and external audits to demonstrate that its processes adhere to well-defined rules and standards. Special attention is given to planning and development processes, as well as customer-centric procurement and manufacturing procedures.

Another vital aspect of the ISO standard is constant risk management.
