asphericon wins Thuringia Digital Award 2024

Jena, November 28, 2024: The VR-based training tool developed by asphericon, in collaboration with the Centre for Digital Transformation Thuringia (ZeTT) and Consensive from Weimar, has been awarded the prestigious Thuringia Digital Award 2024 in the category “User of Digital Technologies”. The award recognises groundbreaking digital solutions that improve customer experience and open up new economic perspectives.

The award-winning VR tool simulates complex production processes within a safe, virtual environment. Employees can realistically practice typical workflows, correct mistakes without risk, and efficiently prepare for operating state-of-the-art CNC machines used in optical manufacturing. The innovative technology is particularly beneficial for career changers, offering a flexible learning environment that reduces onboarding time.

Sven Kiontke, CEO of asphericon GmbH, emphasized: “Our goal was to create a practical solution for a real problem using virtual reality: training on highly specialized optical machinery. Winning the Thuringia Digital Award is a tremendous success and a huge motivation to continue this path. This award not only highlights asphericon’s technological expertise but also honors their contribution to the digital transformation in Thuringia. The prize was presented during a ceremonial event at Kontor Erfurt under the patronage of Thuringian Minister of Economic Affairs Wolfgang Tiefensee.
